Scope
Position Papers at SAFECOMP are are intended to provide an opportunity for authors to briefly present new ideas or work in progress, or opinion pieces that can address any issue relevant to dependable application of computers in safety-related and safety-critical systems. Authors of accepted Position Papers will have a time slot in a dedicated session during the conference, during which they will present their paper and receive early feedback from the community.
Because they are brief and have a later deadline, Position Papers enable their authors to:
- Summarise work that is not yet complete
- Put forward novel or challenging ideas
- State positions on controversial issues
- Suggest new approaches to the solution of open problems
Contributions are particularly solicited from industrial practitioners and academics that may not have been able to prepare full papers due to time and work pressures, but nevertheless seek an opportunity to engage with the SAFECOMP community.
Submission guidelines
Position Papers should be at most 4 pages in length, must be formatted using standard A4 two-column IEEE Conference Proceedings format (look on the IEEE website for Word and LaTeX templates) and must be submitted by the deadline of July 3, 2020 (AoE). Since there is no revision cycle, the submitted paper must be in PDF format and completely ready for printing.
Position Papers are submitted through Easychair, on https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=safecomp2020#, and then selecting the SAFECOMP 2020 Position papers Track .
Selection and Notification
Position Papers will not be refereed. Instead, the Position Papers Chair and the Conference Program Chairs will lightly screen the submissions. The criteria for acceptance will be:
- Relevance and interest to the community
- Capacity to stimulate and intrigue the reader
- Arrival time (if the number of submissions is too high)
Therefore, authors are encouraged to send their submission in advance before the final deadline. By submitting a Position Paper, you are committing yourself or one of your colleagues to register and to present the paper at the conference, if it is accepted.
Accepted contributions will be published in the HAL repository (https://hal-laas.archives-ouvertes.fr/SAFECOMP2020/), and an author will deliver a short talk in the Position Papers session.
Decisions will be notified by July 6, 2020.
